‘No Cook’ Children’s Recipe Book is full of simple recipes for children to make on their own or with just a little help from an adult. All learning should be fun and learning about food is no exception. So, although there are some healthy options to choose from in this book and a few recipes that need the help of an adult (for dealing with hot stuff), I have included a lot of fun recipes a child can make absolutely independent of adults. You can encourage your children to make finger food for family get-togethers or prepare nibbles for a sleep-over or play date with minimum help from adults. You can encourage your children to make a selection of the candies from this book and put them into a cellophane bag tied with pretty ribbon for handmade gifts for family and friends. Children just love to give gifts and are so proud if they’ve made them themselves. You provide the ingredients, the tools and suggestions – then stand back and watch the fun!

Highly recommended:) By Ollivander It is so hard to find great recipes for children to enjoy which are not full of worrying moments with sharp knives and boiling saucepans! This book certainly achieves this in spades; lots of fab, child-friendly recipes which will entertain them even on the dullest day. Really nice way to introduce cooking at a young age while you are at it. The only thing to worry about is the mess afterwards! Absolutely love the puffed rice balls and the peppermint creams ::::))))))

Let your kids participate in the food preparation, and they'll join you happily at the dinner table without being forced to. That was the main 'takeaway' for me after reading this little book. Children ought to be encouraged to cook in the kitchen, even if it's only the simple stuff. This will do them (and you) wonders, and author, Penelope Oates, shows you how to go about it. Children will love the recipes here.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Turn your kids into cooks By Amazon Customer Children have a grouse that they are made to eat recipes made by their parents all the time. This book written by Penelope Oates contains simple but very delicious recipes that can be easily prepared by kids on their own or with little help from their parents. I gave this book to my kids and encouraged them to make recipes that they liked most. I could see how happy and proud they felt as they could make recipes on their own.

Once upon a time, he was just a hopeless cause from the wrong side of Glory, Kansas. And he'll be damned if he'll let anyone drag him back down after finally clawing his way out.

Everyone knows that Gina Townsend is a saint, always taking care of everyone around her. And now she's trying to be a mother to her six-year-old niece, Amanda Jane. But the girl's biological father isn't helping matters. The scruffy, gangly boy Gina remembers has returned to Glory a sexy, successful man, but Reed Hollingsworth is the only thing standing between her and losing Amanda Jane to foster care.

Betrayed that neither Townsend sister bothered to tell him he was a father until he had money, Reed's still not about to shirk his responsibilities. So when he demands Gina move in with him as part of Amanda Jane's custody agreement, he tries not to notice pretty much everything about her—especially the way his solemn-faced daughter laughs when they play together.

Raising a child together, Reed and Gina learn that some dreams come and go, but some are a spark that burns eternal…

A lacy collar lay expertly arranged atop the judge's black robes, like the doily positioned just so underneath the orange carnival glass bowl that held an endless supply of her grandmother's hard, ribbon candy. The kind Gina had chipped her front tooth on when she was eight. Seeing it perched there, so crisp, so proper, caused a heavy knot to turn in on itself in her gut."Sit up straight," Maudine Townsend whispered in Gina's ear. "Just because I've played pinochle with Helga Gunderson every Saturday for as long as I can remember doesn't mean she's going to look kindly on you. She'll be fair.""How is it fair to judge someone by their posture? Especially when I know that you two have never played pinochle. You play five-card stud and shoot whiskey," Gina whispered back to her blue-haired grandmother. The woman's hair was literally a light shade of blue. She'd dyed it for the street carnival two weeks back and temporary had turned out to be more permanent. But she'd accessorized nicely, striking an imposing figure in a white vintage Chanel suit circa 1963. Somehow, she'd made it work.Maudine raised a perfectly drawn eyebrow. "Don't be tart.""Yes, ma'am." Gina straightened her posture. She was a grown woman, former army, and her grandmother still had the power to make her jump to. She didn't mind it much. Her grandmother was the reason she was a fighter. Her grandmother was the reason she'd made it through high school after her mother died. And her grandmother was the reason that Gina believed she could be a good mother to her niece, Amanda Jane, after Crystal died a year ago. There'd been a lot of loss and a lot of sorrow in the past few years. It was a lot for anyone to bear, especially a six-year-old girl.Suddenly, her grandmother's fingers tightened around hers, the cool metal of her mailorder costume rings digging into Gina's palms. She looked up and saw him.Him.Reed Hollingsworth.Gina thought she'd prepared herself for this—for seeing him after all these years. For facing him and demanding he do what was right. No, faced with him, she felt like she'd opened the door to confront the monster in the closet and found out he was real. No, no…Reed wasn't a monster. He was just a guy. A man like any other, even if he didn't think so anymore. He smelled of money, or she could tell that he would from across the courtroom.Reed was ushered into the court by some shark masquerading as a man in a suit. They each had haircuts that probably cost more than all the shoes in her closet combined. Of course, that probably wasn't saying much. His hair gleamed, perfect and golden under the light. Too perfect, she wanted to muss it, push her fingers through it and disturb its perfection. She wanted proof that he was still Reed underneath this shiny veneer. Still the same boy, at heart. Because if he wasn't, how would she survive this? She'd survive anything, because she had to, she reassured herself.Gina crossed her ankles and tucked her dollar-store flats underneath her, self-conscious of her hand-me-down dress and the slightly gnawed tips of her unpolished fingernails."I'm not worried about the judge, I'm worried about him. Don't give him the satisfaction," her best friend and lawyer, Emma Grimes, said from the seat next to her. "I don't doubt he's going to try to pull something here. That attack dog he's got with him looks much too smug.""Good thing you're better than an attack dog. You're a nuclear weapon." Or so Gina hoped. She'd need it to stand her own.Gina had never been so angry as the day she found out that Reed had bought a house on Snob Hill. He had money for houses, for fancy cars, for whatever he wanted. Not just what he needed, but wanted. Any little thing—especially coming back to Glory and showing everyone he'd succeeded even when the world had been against him.Well, that was just lovely for him, but what about his daughter? What about Crystal? And what about herself?Gina didn't begrudge him his success and she didn't want a handout. She was more than happy to work for everything she had, but it wasn't fair that she was back to waiting tables, working as an EMT and trying to get through premed, all while raising his daughter with no help from him.If he didn't want to know the beautiful girl his daughter was, fine. But helping pay for her education, for her food and the clothes on her back was his responsibility, too, not Gina's alone. She'd be damned if she'd let him waltz back into town and lord his money and success over everyone while Gina went without so Amanda Jane could have the things she needed—let alone anything she just wanted. It was wrong that when they went to the store Amanda Jane never asked for anything. That when she made her Christmas list she put things on it like school supplies for Gina. It was kind, yes. She had a large heart, but Amanda Jane had gotten to know nothing of being a child. Even when she played on the swings, it was done with the grim determination of a chore. Something she was supposed to do.All because she'd had a mother who loved her high more than her daughter and Reed couldn't be bothered to be a father. That thought sat cold and false in her mind. Even though she'd seen the proof in his absence, she'd never thought he'd be that way. In fact, when she'd played pretend in her head, she was the sister he'd fallen for, and he was always a wonderful dad.But in those pretend schemes, he'd never been a junkie, either. Not that he was now; he was clean and sober.Damn him, anyway. Why did he have to be so handsome? Why did he have to come back? Why did he have to be Amanda Jane's father? She supposed if she were going to get stuck on that endless loop, she could ask the universe a lot of questions. Why did her mother have to die… It was what it was and the only thing she had control over was the here and now.Sort of. She had control of her actions. That was it.Judge Gunderson's voice yanked her out of her thoughts. "Before I officially hear this case—" she peered down at them meaningfully, her presence heavy in the small room "—I want to offer you both a solution that has been suggested to me by concerned parties."Concerned parties? That would equal one Maudine Townsend. Gina forced herself to keep her eyes forward on the judge and not glaring at her grandmother. She loved the woman. She admired her.Couldn't live without her.But she liked to meddle where she oughtn't."Consider giving the child the stability and permanence marriage will provide."Maybe the judge was her grandmother's best friend, but damn it."I object," Gina said."Shh!" Emma and her grandmother said at the same time."Of course you do." Judge Gunderson addressed her. "I wouldn't want to marry a man I didn't love, either. But you could do it for Amanda Jane."Reed's gaze was hot on her, as if she'd just come into the sight of some heat-seeking missile. Well, she wasn't going to look at him and give him the satisfaction."So my client is good enough to provide for you, but not good enough to marry? Noted," the shark replied."Young man," Helga Gunderson began as she turned her chilly stare on him. "Maybe your theatrics are appreciated in other courts. But you are in my courtroom. Being a smart aleck isn't going to win you any favors."The shark grinned, not at all put off by her words. "Yes, ma'am." He was almost handsome, that predator in a suit, with his boyish grin."And, Miss Grimes, please remind your client that she isn't the one who gets to object." Helga looked at them both pointedly."Yes, ma'am." Emma nudged her under the table like she had those years ago in study hall. And her grandmother pinched her on the other side."You don't get to object, either. Stop it," she grumbled under her breath at the woman who looked more pleased with herself than she should."Miss Grimes, Mr. James, confer with your clients."Emma leaned over. "It costs us nothing to say you'll consider it. In fact, it could gain us some leverage if we have to appeal. You look agreeable and motivated to do what's best for Amanda Jane."She snuck a glance at Reed and felt as if she was in high school all over again. She didn't want to be the one to put herself out there. To say yes before he did. It was like admitting she didn't think boys had cooties in the fourth grade. That was so stupid."You need every advantage you can get here. He's her father. Crystal may have wanted you to have custody, but legally—" Emma whispered."Okay, fine." Oh, God, could Reed really take Amanda Jane away from her? She'd never actually believed that could happen, but sitting here in the courtroom now, it was a sword of Damocles hanging over her head. He had more money, more advantages and no matter what Judge Gunderson's ruling was, Reed could appeal it forever.Emma straightened and nodded to the judge.Reed's eyes were on her again; she didn't need to look at him to know that he was the one who watched her. It was almost as if he was trying to see what was under her skin. Or maybe he was just trying to look through her and pretend she wasn't there."What about you, Mr. James? Your client's answer?""We agree to consider it."Consider it. Marrying Reed Hollingsworth? That was just insane. The idea crashed into her, bruising her in places she didn't know were still sore.He was "considering" it. As if he would deign to look down from the castle he'd built for himself and still found her lacking. She snuck a glance at him and he was still watching her, his blue eyes sharp as blades slicing her to ribbons. But Gina refused to look away, refused to back down. She'd fight for Amanda Jane with every breath in her body."If you decide to go forward, I want a prenup on my desk before next week. If not, we'll be revisiting this case to decide custody, visitation and support.""This is wonderful news. What are your colors going to be?" Maudine asked. "I'm thinking blush and cream.""I'm thinking you've lost your mind." She took her grandmother's hand. "If for some reason, this insanity happens, it will be just a signing of papers in Emma's office. No dress, no vows, no—""Why would you deny an old woman her last wish?"Gina snorted. "You're far from dying, Grams." She said it more to reassure herself than anyone else."You don't know that. I could get hit by a bus. Or choke on—""Then I should never get married so you don't ever leave us." Gina hated how close to the truth that really was and her nose prickled."Hush with that." Maudine's thin arm came around her and pulled her close. She smelled like lavender and home. "Come on, now. Everything will be well. I know these things."After the judge left, Gina wanted to do anything but be in the same room with Reed. She was afraid he'd speak to her; she was afraid he wouldn't. She didn't know how to act. When she'd been thinking about taking him to court for child support, this part of it had never figured into the equation. This hadn't been real to her. It had been some fey idea in her head. When Emma asked her if she was sure about taking him to court, she'd been so steadfast. So sure. Now? She was drowning. She didn't think she'd have to see him, hear him. She certainly hadn't thought she'd have to marry him.As if that would happen, anyway. Not in a million years. The idea was preposterous. But then what would she do if he wanted sole custody? Gina needed Amanda Jane as much as her niece needed her. She was her touchstone, her reason for fighting as hard as she had. She might have given up on med school last semester if not for her.For a moment, Gina wondered if maybe that might be the best thing for Amanda Jane. Reed had all the advantages and she'd never want for anything. But Reed didn't know how to be a family. His own had been more lacking than hers. She'd at least had her grandmother. Now wasn't the time for self-doubt. It was the time to be decisive, to charge ahead with confidence, bravery and to never ever look back.CHAPTER TWOReed's first reaction to the news that he was a father had been anger. Anger that he'd been denied the chance to really be a father. Anger that Crystal and Gina had taken that away from him. Anger that they didn't want anything from him except his money. Because he hadn't known he was a father until he'd been served with suit for child support. Then under that anger, all the old pain, the old doubt—all the baggage associated with the old Reed—surfaced. He was very much that same kid again who wanted so desperately to be enough. But something akin to longing vied for top tier when he saw Gina sitting there next to her grandmother.Beautiful, innocent Gina with her ethereal pale skin, her cloud of dark hair and her soft pink lips that always had a smile for him.He remembered how smooth and soft her hands were on his forehead, the way she'd tenderly pushed his hair out of his face when he'd been racked with fever and chills the first time he'd tried to get clean. There had been no pity in her eyes, only her kindness to ease his suffering. One of his darkest secrets was that single time he'd slept with Crystal. He'd thought it was Gina, and that made him all kinds of a bastard. Especially when once he'd realized it wasn't, it had been too good to stop. Something that finally felt good in a hazy world of pain and numbness. He'd allow that he was still a bastard, but he wasn't that kid anymore. That kid who'd do anything to feel good, anything to belong, anything to feel like someone gave a damn about him.He gave a damn about himself and no one, not even Gina Townsend, was going to take that away from him.Reed had come a long way since then and Gina obviously knew that. She and Crystal hadn't wanted anything to do with him, hadn't cared about Amanda Jane's paternity until that article about him had appeared in Finance Today touting his net worth.Marriage. What the hell was Gina thinking?Besides wanting his money?"I'm on it, Reed. If this is just a money grab on her part, I'll get you custody of the child, and have her paying you child support before this is over. Parental alienation. It's a crime." Gray sounded almost cheerful. That didn't make him feel any better. His ego may have wanted Gina and Crystal to suffer, but his heart didn't. No, he didn't want that for Gina and Crystal. Crystal's suffering was over. She'd died and Gina was trying to raise his daughter all on her own.He was still all twisted up. It was like standing there naked. He'd built this persona around himself, made himself believe he was this successful billionaire, but inside, he was still that guy from a trailer park. There were days he felt as if any minute someone was going to come tell him that it had all been a mistake and he had to give it back. And sitting in court next to his lawyer in the town that only knew him as poor white trash kept reminding him that it was a possibility."I think we should go to the Bullhorn for lunch.""Isn't that where she works? What are you doing?" Gray shoved his papers in his briefcase."I just… I need to see her." Reed wanted to assure himself that despite all of this, everything they'd both been through, that she was still Gina. Gina of the soft eyes, the tender hands, Gina who would be a good mother."You just saw her.""No. I need to see her." He hoped that Gray would understand.

I have not read the other books in this series and I can honestly say I will not be going back to read them anytime soon. Or ever.I really wanted to like this book based on the premise. For personal reasons, any story that revolves around a woman raising a child who is not her own is right in my wheelhouse. And it started off great…with a meeting of matchmaking grannies. Some of my favorite series have meddling grannies in them…the St. Helena series by Marina Adair, meddling Mayor Marsha from Fool’s Gold by Susan Mallery, and Lucille from Lucky Harbor by Jill Shalvis. The meeting was a cute way to introduce the matchmaking grannies, but by the middle of the chapter I was confused. There was a lot of information given and it was difficult to keep track of who was who without going back to the beginning of the chapter. I thought that maybe my confusion was caused because I was starting a book in the middle of the series, so I kept reading. The premise of the book is that Gina has put her life and career pursuits on hold to raise her sister’s child, Amanda Jane. The little girl’s father, Reed, was once seen by the town as a no good drug addict but has made a success of his life in recent years. He has recently moved back to town…to a place called Snob Hill. At first I thought that was a nickname for the rich part of town, but alas it was not. Anyway, Gina is suing him for child support since she is struggling to make ends meet while raising his daughter. A daughter Reed didn’t even know about, as it turns out.Now at the aforementioned grannies meeting, Gina’s grandmother mentioned to one of her granny friends (a judge, who happens to be hearing the case) that she suggest marriage between Reed and Gina as a resolution to the custody case. I thought it was a joke, not a real legal alternative. But, oh no, that is exactly what happens! As a teacher and daughter of a lawyer, I have heard of some supremely dumb rulings handed down in child custody/child support cases in my day but this was the most unbelievable thing I had ever read! And the lawyers agree to it!! I understand that this is a work of fiction, but there has to be at least some sort of reality thrown in for good measure. I have read a few “marriage of convenience” stories in my day but this one took the cake. Usually marriages of convenience are to avoid the legal system, not handed down by them.Since this ridiculous story is the premise for the rest of the book, I couldn’t get into it. I think there were far better ways to get Gina and Reed to spend time together. She is raising the man's child, for God's sake. A child that he didn't know existed and wants to get to know. That story just about writes itself. Amanda Jane was adorable, Gina and Reed were charming, but it just wasn’t enough for me to get over the ridiculous storyline.

This third novel in the Home to Glory utilizes the ever popular marriage of convenience plot device and the resulting story is a mix of sweet romance and angsty drama.Gina Townsend and Reed Hollingsworth are childhood friends who lost touch years earlier after Reed left town. Gina also left town but after her sister Crystal’s death, she returned to Glory to raise her young niece, Amanda Jane. She is struggling to make ends meet, working two jobs while also going to college when she decides to sue Reed for child support. Reed is unaware he is Amanda Jane’s father, but he is more than willing to be an active participant in his daughter’s life. Gina and Reed are surprised when the judge presiding over their case suggests a marriage of convenience as an alternative to shared custody. Although they both have a few trepidations about a loveless union, they do agree this is the best solution for Amanda Jane and they quickly wed. However, Gina and Reed are not prepared for their mutual attraction or for the emotional landmines waiting for them.Gina will do pretty anything to make Amanda Jane happy even if it means marrying the man she has been in love with most of her life. She is determined to give her niece a better life than she had growing up and marriage to Reed will do just that. But she knows trusting him will not be easy since she had a ringside seat to his struggles with addiction and she is afraid that he will eventually relapse. Her fears lead to a seemingly endless cycle of pulling him close only to push him away and although she is aware that what she is doing is unfair to Reed, Gina cannot quite seem to break this pattern.Reed has worked hard to overcome his addiction and make something of himself. Although he is wealthy beyond belief, he still feels like the boy from the wrong side of the tracks. He does a good job of hiding his insecurities but his fears keep him from fully trusting people. Reed is beyond thrilled to be a dad but at the first sign of trouble, his first instinct is to run. This plays into Gina’s fears and their fragile relationship is ill-equipped to withstand their inability to trust each other.Gina and Reed’s relationship is a mix of easygoing friendship and tentative romance. They both tend to over think things but they never seem to work through their individual issues. Their problems become repetitive and their lack of progress is incredibly frustrating. For every step forward they make, they end up taking two steps back and the emotional merry go round begins yet again. The story becomes so bogged down in angst that it feels like Gina and Reed will never find their way to any semblance of happily ever after.Despite the slow progression of Gina and Reed’s relationship, Finding Glory is a cute love story. The secondary cast of characters is quite charming and very easy to like. Gina and Reed are sympathetic protagonists and it is easy to cheer them on as they try to make peace with their respective pasts. Their romance is believable and their love scenes are very sensual. Although it is the third novel in the Home to Glory series, it can be read as a standalone.I received a complimentary copy for review.

Shaw **** I was given an ARC copy by the author in exchange for an honest review ****Ms. Arden does something very well and that is write a very realistic story. Real life is complicated as hell. Add in raising a niece fathered by a boy you've loved your whole life, but now is a man whom you don't really know. Throw in addiction and you have some major real life sh*t. Real life is not all about rainbows and butterflies. It's about making tough decisions and not knowing if what you're doing is right. I applaud Ms. Arden for writing romance novels that aren't just about sex and a happily ever after. They're about families, unexpected and ready made, and the effort it takes to make them work. Husbands and wives fight, have problems, have trust issues, have baggage, but that's life. But at the end of the day they have love and they keep working together to make things better for their children than they had it. And Finding Glory does that. My only 2 minor complaints were that I wish the addiction had been explored more and dealt with more in the forefront. It was always a shadow in the background and at times I felt like Reed had been born with a silver spoon in his mouth. There was no real talking about it. And Gina seemed so milquetoast-y. It took her so long to truly fight for what she wanted. But neither of those make the book non recommendable. Give this one a try.

I'm a fan of other Bento lunchbox recipes, but this one has been BY FAR my favorite. Not only does the beginning give reasons why you SHOULD make the recipes, it also tells you how to make your lunch more appealing (and healthier), and even provides a list of staples that you need for healthy eating. The roasted sweet potato with scallion butter was one of the most delicious lunches I've ever had, and all of my coworkers were begging to try it! I did remain greedy though, and pointed them straight to this book!

Johnson I have to say that lunchbox meals get pretty boring. This book changed that for me indefinitely. The first recipe I tried was the japanese ginger pork, and it kept so well in my lunchbox. It didn't even taste as if I had cooked it the night before. The flavor combinations represented in this book are deeper and more pronounced than I would have thought possible. The recipes are so easy to follow and it'll be hard not to try to take everything for lunch at once. Next for me is the roasted eggplant! I have already recommended this book to my coworkers and one has already bought it. These recipes are great for anyone who gets tired of the same boring lunches all the time

about Time: Poems and Other Stories is the first in a series of collections of works spanning over fifty years of creation by poet, novelists, singer, picker, sculptor, spirit-drummer Robert Nichols. To his readers, Robert would say, “If you don’t understand this, it isn't poetry.” He believes the artist must connect with the audience for art to happen. Thus it is that he has strived to give his stories, reflections, and musings about matters primal, personal, and Cosmic an intimate, arching leap to the universal—from one heart to all the hearts in the world. “Dear Reader, if these poems and tales don’t get you laughing, crying, and contemplating the giddy-vast sweet sorrows and joys of your own life, I've wasted my life writing them.” And, about time… Time is just rhythm, you know. / It’s hours, sun, and seasons. / The pulse of a song, / a heart, / lifetimes. // Tap you toes, / maybe dance to it. / Enjoy.

Hopkins Robert Nichols has written poetry, essays, and short stories most of his long life, and recently collected the best of them into this eclectic volume. The subject matter ranges from heartwarming childhood memories to the dilemmas of seeking meaning in middle age, with many a love poem about the childhood sweetheart to whom he is married. Yet Nichols communicates so clearly that even though the material is often intellectual and deep, its meaning is utterly accessible. I recommend it without reservation.

Rugby has always been a sport with as much drama off the field as on it. For every thrilling last-minute Jonny Wilkinson drop-goal to win the World Cup or Jonah Lomu rampage down the touchline for a try there has been a split, a feud, or a controversy. The Oval World is the first full-length history of rugby on a world scale--from its origins in the village-based football games of medieval times to the globalized sport of the twenty-first century, now played over a hundred countries. It tells the story of how a game played in an obscure English public school became the winter sport of the British Empire, spreading to France, Argentina, Japan, and the rest of the world, and commanding a global television audience of over four billion for the last World Cup final. It also explores how American football--and other games, such as Australian, Canadian, and Gaelic football--emerged from their English cousin.

Featuring the great moments in the game’s history and its legendary names--David Duckham, Serge Blanco, Billy Boston, and David Campese, alongside Rupert Brooke, King George V, Boris Karloff, Charles de Gaulle, and Nelson Mandela--The Oval World investigates just what it is about rugby that enables it to thrive in countries with very different traditions and cultures. This is the definitive world history of a truly global rugby.

He might have his share of adoring women, thanks to his sizable fortune, but he seemed to treat everyone with the same impartial contempt. He was quietly standing there, his dark gaze glancing toward the road where his niece was due to arrive any minute. And despite his indifference to the crowd, he drew women's eyes. He was darkly tanned and rugged, his powerful legs outlined by the superb fit of his trousers, his broad shoulders straining against the fabric of his suit coat. His hands were lean and dark, and there were no rings on them. Jacob wasn't a sentimental man. He was an old-fashioned reactionary in everything from dress to attitudes, and he made no apologies for it. He didn't have to. He had enough money to make up his own rules as he went along."Lord of all he surveys," Kate muttered, glaring."Isn't he entitled?" Tom, her brother, laughed softly. "He's got enough fluttering female hearts in his pocket. Including yours…""Hush!" she bit off, nibbling on her lower lip."He doesn't know," he mused, glancing down at her. They were both tall, dark-haired and green-eyed. Although Tom, at twenty-eight, was four years her senior, they might well have been twins for the resemblance of their facial features. The same even, etched features highlighted both high-cheekboned faces, the faint remnants of a Sioux great-grandfather."I hate him," Kate said firmly, pushing a strand of hair back into the elegant French knot she'd twisted her long, straight hair into that morning."Sure you do.""I do," she insisted. And at that moment, she really did. Jacob's sudden, violent dislike for her, which stemmed from an incident when Kate was eighteen, had put a severe strain on her friendship with Margo. It was odd, too, because Jacob had been good to the family when Kate was younger.Kate and Tom had been adopted by their paternal grandmother after the death of their father. God alone knew where their mother was. She'd deserted them years before, and Kate had never stopped blaming her. The children had been badly scarred by the way their father had brought them up. Not even Grandmother Walker had known what they'd been through, because she hadn't been the kind of person who invited confidences. But she'd taken them into her home in Blairsville, South Dakota, just minutes from Pierre, the capital. Margo Cade had lived with her uncle Jacob Cade and his father, Hank, on Warlance since the unexpected death of her parents years before. When Kate and Tom Walker had come to Blairsville to live with their Grandmother Walker, the girls had become friends. They'd spent time at each other's houses since early high school. Now Margo was marrying, and although Kate had declined the honor of being a participant in the wedding, she couldn't get out of attending. Not even to spite Jacob Cade.

31 of 31 people found the following review helpful. Close, but not quite By Krystal This book is very close to being one of the best...but not quite. The usual story abou the older, untameable rancher and the young, naive girl. Jacob is rugged, but the fact that he took Kate's passion without even thinking about consequences or the exact status of Kate, makes him seem very selfish at the beginning. It's understandable that everyone misjudges from time to time, but his stubborn mind about Kate being a woman with "loose" morals just makes him immature. Just because he could not seduce her before, he finds it easy to just take her whenever he wanted. Kate loves him and gives him what he wants just so that she could have one memory to hang on to, but it turns out to be a "horrible" experience. The rest of the book makes up for this incident, when Jacob treats Kate with kindness, while waiting for her to forgive him. Kate at the end is also very stubborn and it starts to get annoying because she doesnt see whats right in front of her. Overall this book has its ups and downs but it turns out to be a nice story.

58 of 64 people found the following review helpful. Misconceptions By A Customer Jacob Cade had strong opinions about which women were off-limits and which weren't. Kate Walker belonged in the second category--hadn't he once thrown her off his ranch for misbehaving? He'd never stopped wanting her, though, and it was time to make his move. Kate had been in love with Jacob since childhood. Unbeknownst to him, she wasn't the king of woman who took love lightly. Now Jacob was back in her life, but she didn't dare tell him the truth. Kate risked everything just being with Jacob. Her gamble almost ended in disaster--until Jacob decided to take some risks of his own!

I am so glad I did. You could really feel the characters pain, self-doubts, and passion. It's great when one of DP's grouchy heroes realizes what he has been like and truly shows remorse. I finished it in just a few hours. I couldn't put it down.

Revisit book three in JT Ellison's heart-racing, fan-favorite Taylor Jackson series!

It was a murder made for TV: a trail of tiny bloody footprints. An innocent toddler playing beside her mother's bludgeoned body. Pretty young Corinne Wolff, seven months pregnant, brutally slain in her own home.

Cameras and questions don't usually faze Nashville homicide lieutenant Taylor Jackson, but the media frenzy surrounding the Wolff case is particularly nasty…and thorough. When the seemingly model mommy is linked to an amateur porn website with underage actresses and unwitting players, the sharks begin to circle. The shock is magnified when an old adversary uses the sexy secret footage to implicate Taylor in a murder—an accusation that threatens her career, her reputation and her relationship. Both cases hinge on the evidence—real or manufactured—of crimes that go beyond passion, into the realm of obsessive vengeance and shocking betrayal. Just what the networks love.

Judas Kiss, by J.T. Ellison

From Publishers Weekly Starred Review. Carefully orchestrated plot twists and engrossing characters combine in Ellison's explosive third Lt. Taylor Jackson investigation (after 2008's 14). Nashville homicide investigator Taylor is called to the scene of a disturbing murder: beautiful, pregnant Corrine Wolff, brutally beaten in front of her young daughter. Signs point to Corinne's husband, Todd, but Taylor has her doubts. When she learns that the Wolffs were making and distributing amateur pornography, other investigators in her office turn up old X-rated footage of Taylor that could destroy her career and her engagement to FBI agent John Baldwin. Meanwhile, an old enemy of John's has resurfaced and is intent on revenge. The story moves at breakneck speed, seamlessly flowing from Taylor's world into John's until they intersect for electrifying results. Flawed yet identifiable characters and genuinely terrifying villains populate this impressive and arresting thriller. (Jan.) Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. Each of the books has built comfortably on the previous ones (ALL THE PRETTY GIRLS and 14) and gotten better. The voice is clear and the plotting first rate. There are enough twists to keep any thriller reader engrossed, and the release of information to the reader about the killer occurs at the most interesting moments.I am trying to figure out why this author doesn't have a hardback publishing contract yet. Her stories are well worth the time invested. JUDAS KISS is a definite sit down and read it all at once, and also a read it slowly so it doesn't end too soon. Highly recommended -- as I would all J.T. Elllison's books.

10 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Want to add a great new author to your collection? By C. Driskell I don't read too many new books (I spend much of my time in books written before my time) but stumbled upon JT Ellison's "All The Pretty Girls" last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. When "14" came out, I devoured it as well. As you might imagine, I was waiting on "Judas Kiss" and--man, oh man--it did not disappoint. While there are many common threads with her previous books, including the protagonist Taylor and the venerable Dr. Baldwin, this book crackles with an excitement and magnitude that makes the reader know that Ellison is onto something special. Reading "Judas Kiss" reminded me of when I first read "The Firm" and "Chiefs"--my first exposure to Grisham and Woods. I remember knowing, about halfway through each book, that the author was going to do great things. "Judas" gave me the exact same feeling.Prepare yourself for a thrill ride of scares, turn-ons, shockers and twists--you will not want to put it down. It's not too short, not too long. And if you have the time, you'll read it in two days like I did. I hope you enjoy it as much as me.

After I googled her, I discovered that she has quite a nice selection of books and all appear to have been highly rated. In Judas Kiss, we find our main character Taylor Jackson back again! She is a tough homicide lientenant and she is called to a particularly gruesome murder scene - one worthy of a media frenzy. The body of a young, pregnant woman by the name of Corinne Wolff is found - lying right next to her toddler, who is thankfully very much alive. So, who killed this young, healthy woman??After some investigating, it appears that our victim, Corinne was involved in a porn ring. Little does Taylor know that this victim is also connected to another case - one being handled by Taylor's love interest Baldwin. As Taylor becomes personnally involved in the porn ring investigation, in more ways than she cares to admit, long-held secrets will be revealed, threatening to shatter all that is dear to her.I really loved this author. She has a way of writing the storyline that kept me holding my breath and I didn't even realize I was doing it! There are twists and turns that I never saw coming and the plotline is intricate enough to have kept me guessing.I am thrilled that I have found a new author and look forward to going backwards to read all of Ellison's books.
