Exploration of major problem for many veterans By plane Michael Palmer was an MD and the author of books of fiction both on medically related themes as well as other novels. He passed away suddenly in 2013 leaving a void in the literary world that will be difficult to fill. He did, as many authors do, have ideas as outlines of books in the planning stage. His son, Daniel Palmer, who is not an MD but has a background in the high tech area, has written successful novels involved with domestic suspense. Daniel has taken background and outline from an idea being developed by his father and completed a novel based on a conspiracy in the medical field. Dr Carrie Bryant, a young neurosurgeon is a highly regarded doctor in residence at White Memorial hospital. Due to scheduling difficulties she is given a chance to do her first unsupervised brain surgery. She performs the difficult procedure but unforeseen complications arise. While exhausted Carrie has to rush back to her patient and makes a tragic mistake resulting in permanent brain damage for the woman she has operated on. During the inquest looking into the operation Carrie feels impelled to resign her position at White Memorial. She moves back into her parent's house in order to get herself together to continue with her medical career. Her brother Adam, a returning veteran suffering from PTSD after being in combat also lives there and his condition leads Carrie into exploring another, different job. When Carrie learns about a new technique involving Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) being tested as a treatment for the emotional and memory trauma occurring in PTSD by the VA she decides to enter that program as a surgeon and as a way back into medicine. Her first operation is successful, but amazingly the patient mysteriously vanishes. Almost immediately after her second operation, also successful has the same result - the patient vanishes. David Hoffman, an investigative reporter with a local newspaper is writing a story about the incidence of PTSD in returning veterans and in his work has interviewed Carrie. She feels free to ask him to start investigating the disappearances: which he does. The investigation uncovers a conspiracy going to the very top of the Veterans Administration and exposes both Carrie and David to great danger. Daniel Palmer incorporates his father's notes and explanations into the novel making it both a fascinating medical story as well as an adventure into a major conspiracy. Very readable with explanations about PTSD and it's effects on many combat veterans with a need to develop new procedures to help them return to civilian life.

Credible final Michael Palmer finished by author son Daniel By Jerry Bull We were devoted Michael Palmer fans, with the possible exception of his Lou Welcome novels (which were too incredulous and too political); and so wasted no time snatching up “Trauma”, even though we knew it had to be mostly written by author son Daniel, with a draft or outline left from dad before his sudden passing. We found a reasonably well-conceived plot with good writing reminiscent for sure of Michael – but felt much of the action in the latter half to be too big a stretch.The gist of the story is that a pretty accomplished brain surgeon resident, Carrie Bryant, makes a bad mistake and resigns her position, only to take on almost a contractor position to implant deep brain stimulation probes and associated accouterments at a Veteran’s Hospital. We found the discussion and illumination of these techniques, with which we were familiar relating to Parkinson’s Disease, to be interesting and encouraging when applied to severe cases of PTSD, certainly a topical issue. When things go mysteriously wrong with several patients, who eventually disappear, and then Carrie runs into all kinds of roadblocks at work, and then personal violence, it soon becomes obvious some sort of conspiracy is afoot. While we readers can easily suspect the perps involved, it takes till nearly the end to clear everything up, with pretty decent suspense building to the climax.Our problems revolve around the fact that no actual brain surgeon would be treated with such low accord and barred from following up with patients. Moreover the “action” part of the book, wherein Carrie and a journalist friend play amateur sleuth, is somewhat hard to swallow. While Palmer fans will surely not wish to skip his last effort, we wish it had better reflected the thriller mastery more evident in his earlier novels.

By Deana Review by DeanaCarrie has become a well known neurosurgeon that is highly respected. During a procedure, one mistake changes her future forever. After being dismissed from her job at the hospital , she decides to go home. Her parents are there to support her during this transition in her life. She is glad to be home but still sees that her brother has not improved much. He has been suffering from PTSD. Adam seems fine by looking at him, but Carrie knows the turmoil going on inside his brain. She soon finds a new job that she believes will help her brother and others that suffer from PTSD. As she starts to do the procedure on a patient , she starts to see changes that should not be happening to the patient . Instead of improving, he seems to regressing. Cassie soon uncovers dark secrets about the program she has been working for. i If you are looking for a heart pounding nail biting ride, this is a must read. You can feel your heart race as the words from the pages grab you into the drama that the characters are living. The best medical thriller I have read. I feel as if I was right there with the characters as they faced danger,. I commend the authors for their intelligent thought provoking story that deals with a subject that many people suffer with everyday . A quote from the book Trauma says . " Rember those with invisible wounds." Thanks to the authors for reminding us that there are those that have wounds no one sees.

This was a land set apart from the heart of the empire, away from the eyes and ears of imperial authority. This was a land where a person with determination and a little cleverness could carve his own destiny, regardless of his birth.Even a man with a price on his head.Yang should have been afraid to return to the city where not long ago he'd tried to have a powerful warlord assassinated, but he had connections. He knew who would turn a blind eye and who could be bribed.It wasn't that there was no law in Fujian. Imperially appointed bureaucrats still oversaw the administration of the cities, but it was the merchants who dominated the rivers and ports. The surrounding mountains were inhabited by bandits and smugglers. Wealth and commerce were the forces that truly ruled this province.He was approaching the city of Minzhou now by river, where there was very likely a warrant out for his arrest for attempted murder. Or at least for someone who looked like him. To his knowledge, his name was still unknown—for now, although he didn't know for how much longer. His connections had bought him some valuable time.The fisherman at the crossing was willing to take him down the river for a few copper coins. Yang hid beneath the wide brim of his hat as the tiny boat drifted into the city, joining the fleet of merchant vessels and ferries that fed the bustling markets.As the fishing boat crossed beneath one of the main bridges, Yang kept his gaze directed forward. There was a guardsman in the lookout tower, but his bow remained slack in his hands as he scanned the water. The arrows rested soundly in their quiver.'The city guards have been wary of strangers lately,' the fisherman said as he dragged a long pole along the river bottom, propelling them forward. 'It's best that you find your friend quickly and seek shelter before curfew so you aren't hassled by the night watch.''Is the city unsafe?''There was some unrest a while back. Bandits, I hear.' 'Thank you, Uncle.'Three months had passed since he'd broken out of Minzhou's prison house along with his co-conspirators. It was dangerous to return now, but not as much as one might think. Any thief-catchers searching for him would expect him to be in hiding. It was the regions to the north where there was price on his head. The regions that General Wang Shizhen had taken over with his army.The fisherman steered clear of the busier docks to set Yang ashore at the edge of the market. From there, he moved quickly to a more secluded part of the city, slipping into a public park. A small stream ran through it, branching off from the main river. The walkways appeared empty and the broad canopy of the banyan trees provided cover.Moving quickly, Yang set about tracking down his associate. He'd built up a wide network of associates over the years of which this particular official was the most powerful. If there was ever a time Yang needed to rely on calling in favours, it was now. He'd been working in the shadows before, seeding disruption and rebellion, but now this was war.Yang needed the city magistrate's allegiance which was going to require some craftiness on his part. Magistrate Tan was, after all, the same man who was responsible for throwing him into prison in the first place.Jin-mei dabbed at her forehead with a handkerchief and adjusted the angle of her parasol to block the sun. As they neared the height of summer, there were fewer people enjoying the park in the midday heat, but her daily stroll along the river was one of the few opportunities she had to escape the house.She had set out with her amah, but the old nursemaid only made it ten steps into the park before she sank down on to one of the benches in a viewing pavilion.'Don't go too far!' Amah warned, waving her on.The woman had been considered elderly when Jin-mei was only a child. Now that Jin-mei was nineteen, Amah was ancient and could be forgiven for not wanting to exert herself. The dear old servant had also become less strict with age.Jin-mei was wearing the lightest robe she owned, a finely woven silk in a peach-blossom pattern, but still the late summer heat was getting to her. She wiped at her face again, this time using the edge of her sleeve. When she lowered her arm, she could see a man crossing the bridge over to her side of the river. Given the man was a stranger and she was alone, Jin-mei slowed her step so they would have no reason to encounter one another.Unfortunately, he'd seen her as well. He halted at the centre of the bridge before striding towards her with purpose. She should have ducked beneath the shadow of her parasol to avoid his gaze, but she found herself caught in it. Now that he was close enough, she understood why.Her heart pounded. She knew him.Most of her father's visitors were grey-haired and uninteresting, but the young Bao Yang had seemed so dashing and full of mystery. He had a gleam in his eye and a half-smile that had always made her stomach flutter. That had been four years ago.She'd only seen him from behind a screen while listening in on conversations she wasn't supposed to be hearing. There was the one time when she'd attempted to stumble 'accidentally' into the hallway. She had fallen in hopes that Mister Bao might catch her and, well, become immediately smitten with her. I must have startled you. I am here to seek the magistrate.'He didn't recognise her. Some demon inside of her awoke at the opportunity. Here was a chance for her to make an impression on him. A more favourable one than she had at fifteen, picking herself off the floor in a tangle of silk.'I know where the magistrate can be found,' she said.'Then I am fortunate fate has brought us together.''Are you flirting with me?' she asked incredulously. She realised only after the words had left her mouth that such directness would be considered rude. 'Sir,' she added after a pause.His smile didn't waver. 'Miss,' he began, a counterpoint to her delayed honorific, 'are you always so outspoken?''It's just that I know you. Well, I don't know you,' she amended, 'but I feel as if I do.''I feel as if I know you as well,' he replied smoothly. He glanced at something over his shoulder, before returning his attention to her. 'Will you accompany me?'He flashed her a crooked smile and then they were walking side by side along the river, shielded by the shade of her parasol.Bao Yang was flirting. No man had ever treated her with such charm. Her mother had been slender and tall and long-limbed, as graceful as a willow in the breeze. Unfortunately, Jin-mei took after her father's side. Father was short with rounded features, moon-faced and on the plump side.She was no great beauty to take hold of men's hearts upon a glance. Jin-mei hadn't expected any man to ever flirt with her. In her dreams, she had always impressed potential suitors with intelligent conversation and astute sensibilities.'What is a proper young miss doing walking alone in this park?' he asked. 'There might be questionable men about with evil intentions.''What men are these? I see no one but yourself.' She attempted a coy look, glancing at him from the corner of her eye. 'Minzhou is probably the safest city in the province. 'Is that a dragon carved into the stone?''Where?' She drew closer, but saw nothing of the sort in the foundation.He turned to her and took her wrist gently. The gesture sent her pulse racing.'Let us get out of the sun where we can speak more privately,' he suggested, setting his hand lightly against the small of her back.As courtship went, his ploy wasn't particularly clever, but Bao Yang's touch was subtly insistent without being demanding. There was a quiet urgency in his voice that both puzzled and intrigued her. In her confusion, they were already to the bridge before she found her voice.'I am not that sort of woman.''I don't think you're that sort of woman.' He was serious now, no longer flirting. Bao Yang removed his hold on her to step into the shadows. 'But there are city guards nearby. If you cry out now, I'm dead. You hold my life in your hands.'How had he compelled her down there? It was nothing more than a few looks, some polite conversation, a series of light and gentle touches that just breached the boundaries of etiquette, but went no further.Yang was standing apart from her now, well out of arm's length. She could flee and he wouldn't be able to catch her. For a moment, she did consider fleeing. This man before her was someone who was hiding secrets. Fantastic Romance, Intrigue and Adventure in Ancient China By Sophia Rose I love each new book this author writes in her Tang Dynasty series that just makes Ancient China and its people come to life for me. It doesn't hurt that there is mystery, adventure, passion and colorful interesting characters. In this case, there is a tie to a previous book, The Sword Dancer, that is great for fans of that story, but this one can still be read as a standalone.The story opens with Bao Yang still on a quest for vengeance against a ruthless warlord even after Yang's assassination attempt failed and now he has a price on his head. He hopes to regroup and pull in the help of others who want the warlord taken down so he heads into the city to gain support from Magistrate Tan. Only Yang gets sidetracked by Tan's bold and lovely daughter, Jin-Mei. He accidentally compromises her and agrees to her father's insistence that he save her reputation.Jin-Mei has been attracted to Yang since the first time she encountered him a few years before. She knows what sort of man he is, but even an older, wiser Jin-Mei still feels the pull toward Yang. She is not disappointed when they are forced to marry and dreams of a good marriage and a future. But then a shocking betrayal and Yang's confession of the truth about his past and his need for revenge sends them on the run, hiding from the authorities. In spite of his confessions, Jin-Mei still wants her new husband and hopes to change his mind about revenge.This story had all the good things I love about a Jeannie Lin Historical Romance. The settings were drawn like a work of art and I could easily picture the scenes. The layered plot and pace was nice with a variety of heart-stopping danger, quiet times, humor, passion, and the build up to a shocking climax. The main characters who share the narration are both engaging. They have to grow, learn and grow together. It was done well. Then there is the issues driving the plot. I loved the twists and turns of the story and was pleasantly surprised when familiar characters slipped in and out of the scenes. Han and Li Feng as well as Li Feng's mysterious brother. I really want his story next.The romance starts as an arranged marriage, but the author managed to balance the strong chemistry between the two and the need for them to get to know each other and grow their romance. The passionate scenes just sizzle even though Yang must teach his new wife the way of physical love. I liked how the natural tension of the story was handled. They are at odds over Yang's revenge, but it doesn't get angsty.All in all, this was a fantastic story and I love the feel that I've just visited Ancient China for some romance and adventure. Historical Romance fans might want to pick this book/series up.My thanks to Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange of an honest review.

This is outlaw/ merchant Bao Yang, and the magistrate’s daughter Jin-mei’s storyline. A DANCE WITH DANGER can be read as a stand alone. Some of the previous storyline characters play secondary and supporting roles throughout the story.Told from third person perspective, the storyline follows the ill-fated wedding and marriage of Jin-mei and Bao Yang. Bao is an outlaw, with a price on his head, and he has been forced into a marriage with the magistrate’s daughter. What ensues is an attempt on Bao’s life, leaving the newly married Jin-mei without a husband and too many questions. As Jin-mei begins to unravel the mystery surrounding the presumed death of her husband, she will begin to suspect that her father has something to do with the attack. Jin-mei will go in search of her husband, only to discover that there is more to the story than she could ever have known. Bao Yang and Jin-mei will begin a cross country trek as Yang plots revenge for the death of someone close.The relationship between Bao Yang and Jin-mei is one of immediate attraction but Yang knows his reputation as an outlaw places Jin-mei in a precarious position. The building romance finds Jin-mei in need of comfort and reassurance, thus allowing for the love and dance of sexual attraction to begin. The sex scenes are romantic and intimate without graphic description or language. We are introduced to Bao Yang’s brother Tien and his wife Shou-yun, and reunited with Hao Han, Lin Feng, and Lin’s brother Liu Yuan (The Sword Dancer #1). There is a potential storyline building for Liu Yuan.Jeannie Lin’s exotic and breathtaking world building takes the reader through the jungles, waterways and outlying areas of China where we meet charismatic characters and controversial players. Bao Yang and Jin-mei’s journey follows a path of self-discovery, personal revelations, and blossoming love. The plot twists and revelations add an interesting perspective when the truth is finally revealed.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A captivating story with a Mexican flavor. By Ed This is a well written book set in Monterrey Mexico. It takes you into the world of cartels, drug gangs and dog fighting. The use of first person narratives by most of the major characters was a style I wasn't used to but I very soon found myself taken up by it. The story flows well and is neatly wrapped up at the end. I found it captivating and definitely worthy of at least a four star rating. I take one star off for editing and proof reading. The number of typos and other small errors was similar to that of some self-published books I have read. The letter "a" and some other words like "all" show up at inappropriate times. It's the type of error that a spell check will not catch. There were a very few errors in the use of the past tense and the now endemic English error of the use of the nominative "I" when the objective "me": should have been used as in "Pepe gave it to Lobo and I". You give something to "me", not to "I". Despite these quibbles, I found myself enthralled by a master story teller and I highly recommend this book.

By Susannah St Clair Foxy Loxy At first I thought this was more like a travel guide to a spot in Mexico. Mr. Burke does a very good job of giving the reader a good look at the area he has set his story in and it is quite a story! La Independencia / Barrio San Luisito was a small part of Monterrey , Nuevo Leon which had been formed to settle the workers from other parts of Mexico to build the city. Now Monterrey is a huge modern city but the Barrio is not so much so. The author shows the problem the people face living there. A government that is uninterested in it’s people and more interested in how much money they can siphon out of the system. ( hum.. sound familiar?) We have many similar spots in America, Chicago and New York come to mind. Places where even the Cops stay out of. So in this settling, we meet our main characters. Padre Miguel, and Pepe his childhood friend and Pepe’s now orphaned granddaughter, Antonia who is around nine years of age. The two men had been as brothers all throughout their younger years but Miguel became a Padre and Pepe had started to run with one of the numerous gangs associated with the area. Pepe got in way over his head and then had to run leaving his wife and young daughter to fend for themselves. She lives long enough to raise her child Maria, Antonia’s mother and then dies of cancer. It is Maria and her husband Arturo who were killed leaving Antonia alone. Pepe has come back to take care of his granddaughter . This is the setting and backdrop for the story of Antonia and Lobo. There are parts in this book that are hard to read. Especially if your an animal lover but our author is writing about the realities of that life and the animals living them. We have exactly the same situations on this side of the border but thank goodness we have come to realize that gangs, dog fighting and crime all go hand in hand and our police force seems much more willing to crack down on them than the more corruptible local police of the barrio. I admire how Mr. Burke creates a great narrative that is fast paced and in depth. You, the reader, will become involved and learn to care about the lives created in this book. I can’t guarantee that your EVER gonna find a dog that “thinks” like this one but it sure would be fun. The author gives you a lot to think about and quietly teaches you some important lessons while making you root for the people you have come to know . I highly recommend this book but it is not for the faint of heart and just because that is so, then you should read it. This kind of thing is rampant in his world of Mexico and here in the United States.

Fascinating story: Lobo put to the test By Wrnewton It’s been a long time since I read a story where a dog was a major character, or so I thought when I started to read Lobo, but I soon recalled one of my recent favorites, Cormac McCarthy’s The Crossing, where a wolf plays a large part in locales farther west in Mexico. Then I became drawn into following the shepherd from his puppyhood through being adopted by a little girl, lost in a storm and on to a life as a stray on the streets and then into the hands of men who subject dogs to unspeakable horror for money. The setting is modern day Monterrey Mexico and environs where Burke relates many of the urban problems and gritty realities that impact Lobo and his canine and human associates during their daily lives. Death is just around the corner for man and beast. At one point during a stakeout near the end of the story, a police officer says, “I have to tell you, I love these last minute raids. There’s nothing like the possibility of dying on a Friday night to make a man feel alive.” The author shows how the shepherd’s character comes through all during his life: he is strong and dominant yet he is protective of the weak, be they canine or human. His life is played out through the first person points of view of a number of characters in what is like an extended series of interviews, reminiscent of certain television documentaries where several persons are called up to narrate, making up an entire story from many facets of it. It’s as if each character has told his story to a ghost writer, since most of the characters would not “talk” in standard speech the way that their narrations read, had they been quoted directly. Their dialects, even translated, could have distracted from the story, but the way it’s written works very well. The average reader, engrossed in the story itself, might not mind that the author’s proofreader could have reviewed the text more closely, but this should not put off the reader from such an interesting story, one that is sure to please.

NEW, LARGE PRINT COOKBOOK OFFERS GREAT REAL FOOD RECIPES By Edna Renfield Holmes A LARGE PRINT cookbook, easy to read, with American and some ethnic foods in most categories. Some recipes are full of butter, sugar, and are delicious, others are full of fiber and healthfulness. There's a nice, if small, section on making your own healthful dog food and dog treats, some great soups, seedy grain muffins, slow cooker recipes, and plenty of desserts, including some that use only "glucose" type syrup. The Best Easy Ice Cream recipe is a simple treat that doesn't need a machine! There's a great chart for cooking most vegetables in several ways and 67 names for sugar that is often hidden in commercial foods. Altogether, a good achievement for a fairly short cookbook. Most recipes have "options" to make them more versatile. These are mostly "real food" recipes, so expect to do some chopping and shopping, but you can save effort by making larger batches for more than one meal, and even using the slow cooker. There are even recommendations for higher fiber snack chips and various dips. Some alcoholic beverage recipes included. These are the best of the best of decades of life, from newspaper recipes in the 1960's to favorites from family and friends. A kind of tour de force, and very readable in large print format. We do most of our cooking out of this book now, and highly recommend it!

I also want you to know that the buffalo chicken is out of this world. And the secret recipe hotdogs you just have to try. You will find a few misprints but you can figure out what they are saying. Thank you and enjoy your meal and enjoy your day.

21 of 24 people found the following review helpful. A very health-conscious cookbook By Silea Before i get to the actual recipes, i want to talk about the blurbs that come before each one. First off, the author sounds a bit defensive about protein, mentioning any ingredient that is a source of it as if it's a surprise. I doubt that anyone buying a vegan/GF cookbook will be delighted to learn that nuts are a source of protein, but who knows. Second, nearly every recipe's blurb has a comment about some specific nutrient or mineral and its supposed health benefits (the sulfur in brussels sprouts books your immune system!). I learned, after a while, to just skip straight to the recipe rather than hope that first paragraph would have much in the way of serving suggestions, pairings, or whatever.Ok, on to the recipes:Most of the recipes in this book are on the relatively-quick-and-easy end of the spectrum. Assuming you have a decent upscale grocery store nearby that will sell you amaranth, brown rice flour, and other vegan/GF staples, you'll probably not have to work hard to find the ingredients for anything in here.Some of the recipes are a little TOO easy, if there is such a thing. For example, the heirloom tomato salad involves tossing heirloom tomato chunks with salt, pepper, vinegar, oil, chives, and basil. It's a recipe so obvious and generic that most cookbooks skip it.It also has a decent number of 'cheater' recipes, which is what i call ones that use faux-cheese to try to pretend to be a classic meal. A cucumber and cream cheese sandwich? Sure, we can make that vegan by using fake cream cheese. Did you need a cookbook for that?And there are a few 'huh?' recipes, like the zucchini piccata that calls for a marinara sauce. And no capers. Basically, it has nothing to do with a standard piccata. At all. (Pro tip: you can make an awesome seitan piccata buy swapping out the chicken for seitan in most common recipes if you just up the liquids a bit, and you can veganize it by using oil instead of butter. I guess you can even GF it by using GF flours instead of wheat flour. There you go.)Ok, i know that's a lot of complaining, but there are quite a few new, interesting, and tasty recipes in here too. From tamale pie to quinoa porridge to strawberry amaretto cupcakes, you can make your tummy very happy.

However, this is for beginning gluten-free or vegan cooks who don't already have a lot of go-to cookbooks in their libraries. Nothing against any of the recipes found here, but I think most of them were repeated from what I'd seen elsewhere.But, that's going to happen - if you accumulate a bunch of cookbooks there will be crossover, so that's not a criticism other than this is for beginners, not experts.I'm fine with the book's reliance on canola oil - this is not a bad fat to be using, though there are other options.The recipes are not for dabblers - if you're going to take these recipes seriously, the ingredients are unusual and the preparation will be time consuming. So even though I just said it's for beginners - it's for beginners who are going to take this effort seriously.Far and away, the best chapter is the "sweets" chapter - its whole family oriented, and lots of choices. She is a founder of a bakery and I think this is from a baking background.I'm giving it four stars for production value - so even though this isn't a go-to for me, I really appreciate it's ease of use and appearance. And it's always good to have another vegan/gluten-free cookbook out there to show that this dietary choice is certainly attainable.

I had a few problems with first recipe By Cheryl So I tried the simplest recipe I could find and that was the brownies, which are made with chickpea flour (besan flour).The ingredients are 1/2 cup of besan flour with 1/2 cup of cocoa powder, with approximately 3/4 cup of liquid and then the recipe states to put it into a 10 inch pan. I realized that 10 inches was going to be way too big so went with my largest pan of 9 inches and still I wasn't able to spread the batter in the pan because I didn't have enough batter. And since besan flour has no gluten it really doesn't expand like regular flour, so although it spread out a little in oven, it was still in the middle of the pan but it had raised a little. Why on earth she used a 10 inch pan is beyond me or was this a typo? The recipe might work in a smaller pan and I may try that. It actually tasted good although crumbly so I am willing to try another recipe. My 19 year old didn't like it but I thought it tasted good.Also, the recipe said to blend the dates with the coconut oil and oddly they would not blend together. Probably I should've soaked the dates beforehand although not sure if that would've helped or not.There are some normal recipes in the book that merely say to substitute in gluten-free pasta or vegan cheese for regular. I don't really need someone to tell me to substitute gluten pasta for regular, I can figure that out myself.

Some of the recipes have long ingredient lists, but once purchased, most of these ingredients can be used elsewhere in the book. Definitely will try some of these.

By Joseph Nawar For the price paid, maybe I should not complain, except for the time wasted in putting together various spices recipe.Most recipe in the book do not seem worth the time to make and test.If they wanted a give away to entice customer for future business and referral, they should have picked something with more taste value and authenticity .
