I certainly had no idea until cracking open Lise Gottlieb's book and starting with these amazing recipes. I have to confess that I am a chicken lover and am very curious about Paleo. The combination of the two and Lise's mouthwatering recipes did not disappoint.My taste buds were blown away by the unique recipes from all over the planet. The hard part is deciding whether to go for the Indian, Mexican or BBQ style recipes first. Whatever the case, it is worth taking the time to work through the unique and surprising combination of recipes in this book.Pictures make it easier to choose which recipes you want to try and also how they should look in the end.The recipes are easy to follow and really don't take that much time. For a person, like myself, who manages to mess up even boiling water, I found this book to be at a level that, even I could manage.One other thing I appreciate is the use of variations to main recipe. There are some ingredients that I like more or less than others and with the variations, it was easy to focus on the things I like best and also mix up some of the recipes next time I try them.After seeing this is the 5th in the "Awesome Paleo Recipes" series I will be sure to check out the previous 4. I can't overemphasize how fantastic this book is and look forward to reading more in this series!

That is where my cookbook collection comes in. Both in print and in Kindle editions, I love to get cookbooks for new ideas and ways to prepare old favorites and staples. In Paleo Chicken: The Ultimate Chicken Cookbook, I have found ways to prepare chicken that I have not seen anywhere else. The ideas appeared healthy, fresh and colorful. The photos made my mouth water, and I was struggling with which recipe to make first! Finally I settled on Roasted Chicken Tandori which was so flavorful and moist, delicious! The following day I made the bowl of Chicken Curry with Coconut Noodles and it was awesome. My family was mad I did not make a double batch because everyone wanted seconds. Yesterday I tried the Spicy Strawberry Salsa on Grilled Chicken with Lime and Cilantro and it was a hit too. Three hits in three days makes this one a keeper! I am still deciding what to make today as everything so far has been delicious and has taken the boring out of the chicken! Thumbs up to author Lise Gottlieb for an excellent cookbook on paleo chicken! (and thank you for all of the extra gifts and bonuses at the end of the book!)

By Amazon Customer I was always attracted to paleo diet because of its immense health benefits but did not know how to cook chicken according to paleo lifestyle. Paleo Chicken is a great book written by Lise Gottelib that contains many different techniques of coking chicken in paleo style. This book will change the way you have been eating chicken till now by allowing you to prepare delicious and nutritious chicken recipes. You can hope to get maximum benefit of lean protein by reading this book. I learnt how to convert my favorite chicken into a food item that is also very healthy while being delicious. I must say that I never imagined paleo chicken could be so tasty. This book is really worthy of reading as it will enable you to have your favorite chicken while making it more nutritious for your body.

By KIMBERLY SEMIEN I have tried every diet program under the sun, and so far, the Atkins way of life is what really works for me. I try to eat low carb, high protein meals and always eat my protein portions first. I really love this cookbook as it helps me come up with new and exciting recipes to try. Even if I deviate from the actual recipe a bit, I know I can find a starting point here. I recommend this to anyone who would like an awesome addition to their cookbook arsenal.

Ritts Karin Slaughter has said in interviews that she wants to be a better writer with each book. She has clearly done that with Kisscut. I think it has tighter plotting, characters that are more human (even the evil parts), and a stronger narrative than in Blindsighted, her first book. While I don't think the plot is better in this book, the development of the story is. Just when I 'knew' the story was cruising to a certain place (and who and what and how), some unexpected turn of events jumped off the page -- more than once.We get to see more of small town life in Grant County. Sara, doctor and part-time medical examiner, and Jeffery, the police chief, are still central characters in Kisscut, but Lena, one of Jeffrey's detectives, is brought to the fore in this book and has her inner self laid bare. There are enough references to the first book's story to give a good idea of what happened without giving everything away. Without being Lena, I'd say that her thoughts and perceptions are congruous with how a person could behave and react to her experiences.The rest of this gives away just about everything except names, with each paragraph telling more. If you do not want to know about the plot and 'who done it', skip to the last paragraph.Kisscut has child pornographers who think it is appropriate to physically and sexually abuse children -- and they have no guilt or remorse about it. I'm not sure there is a way to write about that and have it seem comprehensible, because in my mind there is no understanding intentionally hurting children. I know it happens, though, because I know adults to whom this was 'normal' while they were growing up. The author has made her perpetrators believable, sympathetic characters at the beginning of the book.Ms. Slaughter took the bold step of making women (yes, plural) the primary 'evil doers'. Of course, after the warped attentions that her Blindsighted tormentor inflicted on his victims, we shouldn't be surprised at the ugliness springing from the human mind that this author conjures to put on paper -- although in person she appears to be an engaging young woman who couldn't possibly think of, let alone know, anything about the dark side of humanity.While I'm sure Kisscut was plotted out before this last year's revelations about the molestations by priests of the Roman Catholic Church, having a minister who is involved in this mayhem on children is certainly a timely addition -- and another reminder that you can't trust someone just because of his or her position or profession.There is some brightness to report. It looks like Sara and Jeffery could be getting back together.Ms. Slaughter has once again written a book that is not easy on the emotions, but is highly readable. Get Kisscut and settle in for a fine, intense story on the printed page.

25 of 27 people found the following review helpful. Kisscut Extremes By M.A. This past week, I finished Kisscut, the second book by Karin Slaughter. I'd read the first novel by this author a few months ago, and while I wasn't blown away by her writing, I was curious enough to consider the next book in the series. After all, this author received a three-book, six-figure contract based on the first book, so why not study her efforts to see what publishers are buying?Returning to the Georgia-based setting are pediatrician and part-time coroner, Sara Linton, her ex-husband and police chief, Jeff Tolliver, and police detective, Lena Adams, who is still recovering from a brutal rape and attack depicted in the previous book. Sara interested me a great deal because of her relationship with her mother, but Lena, whose sister was murdered in the first book, wasn't as appealing. In fact, she's downright unpleasant at times. Maybe that's the point, as the second book explores.Anyway, Kisscut starts off with the police shooting of Jenny, a 13-year old who threatened to kill boy outside a roller rink. Clearly distraught, the girl was last seen exiting the restroom... where the tattered remains of a pre-term fetus are found, flushed in the toilet. Are the two connected? Did Jenny intend to kill the father of her baby?The story isn't just about Jenny, the baby (which actually isn't hers) and her attempted murder of the boy. In fact, it's a far more sordid, brutal tale of extensive child abuse, self-mutilation, incest and pornography. Slaughter thankfully doesn't go into explicit detail, though she still manages to sicken and horrify through alluded passages. It's a twisted, frustrating journey that layers trauma upon trauma, discovery upon discovery. The ultimate culprits aren't the usual suspects, and that makes the story even more difficult to handle.For the most part, the text was engaging with a good balance between the A story (the mystery) and the B stories (Lena's struggle to accept what happened to her and move on, Sara/Jeff's rekindled relationship) with strong description and dialogue. Slaughter did improve from the first book, though Lena is still very much an angry, unlikable woman, and I haven't decided yet if I want to read the third book in the series.For those who can stomach the actual story, Kisscut is a worthwhile read for an above average mystery... but it's not one I'd ever want to read or think about again.

By Jewel My husband and I love that good southern BBQ, and wanted to be able to make it ourselves at home. After looking at a few smokers, I decided to buy this book to learn more about what we were getting ourselves into! This book was such a big help in every aspect of the meat smoking process! The first 2 chapters of the book go over the basics of real BBQ and everything you need to know to get started. It talks about the 4 general types of BBQ (Texas, Carolina, Memphis, and Kansas). Then the book goes on to talk about the 4 main components of hot meat smoking- the cooker, your protein choice, wood selection, and marinades/rubs. To be honest I never realized that meat smoking was such an art, and after reading this book I am so excited to be a part of it!I really enjoyed how it broke down exactly what we needed for what we wanted to do. There are several different kinds of smokers, and this book laid out clearly what kind of smoker we should by for what sort of meats we wanted to cook. One of my favorite parts was when the book said to grab a six pack and sit back and relax! It followed the same breakdown for the other 3 important considerations for smoking. I now feel very well informed of the choices I need to make to get started!After those first 2 chapters there are tons of delicious, mouth-watering recipes for you to choose from! They are sorted by meat choice. Each recipe begins with a level of difficulty (marked by number of cows!), serving size, prep time, cook time, and recommended wood choice. The recipes were all very detailed and easy to follow. While the book does encourage you to be creative and experiment with different types and flavors of wood with different meats, for those of us just getting stated its always nice to have a laid out recipe in front of you!Overall I definitely enjoyed this book and learned so much from it. It had a nice flow to it, and the author threw in interesting facts about the world of BBQ and smoking throughout, keeping it interesting!!I received this book for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion. I was really happy to read this book as I am a huge foodie and love to eat and prepare big barbeque meals. I am always on the lookout for learning new techniques and recipes about barbecue and smoking. This book is aptly titled "Real BBQ: The Ultimate Step-by-Step Smoker Cookbook". It gives some great information about smoking including interesting tidbits and historical facts. It also gives clear instructions on how to smoke meat. The process of cooking meat with smoke is time and effort consuming but this book is not. It has been written in such a way that even a newbie can easily grasp the process and involved steps in no time. Besides explaining all the basics and How-Tos, this book also gives a lot of recipes. I especially enjoyed Chapter three where the author mentions several recipes involving poultry. I found most of them to be very interesting and something that I can look forward to make myself. I also enjoyed Chapter nine which is devoted to some wonderful BBQ sides. As BBQ lovers would agree, no BBQ meal is complete without some tasty sides, I found this chapter very interesting. It features some great recipes on sides and I learned a lot of new pairings, which I had not thought of before. The book also covers in detail various recipes for sauces, rubs, marinades etc that I found useful. I really like the fact that this book features recipes that gradually incorporate more techniques. This helped me gain confidence as I go from a relatively easier recipe to a tougher one. Overall, a wonderfully written book for Barbecue lovers and a great gift idea too!Note: I received this book complimentary in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. I wanted to like this book By DavidB I wanted to like this book, I was provided a free copy to give an unbiased review, but it just didn't work out. This book would work best for the absolute novice wanting a very light survey of barbecue topics. Even then, though, there's a fair bit of old wives tales in here that you'll want to unlearn as you go deeper into your BBQ journey and learned things soaking wood chips doesn't help much if at all (p21 and nearly every recipe in this book say you should), spices don't penetrate the meat except salt (p23's pitmaster tip suggests they do), and that you shouldn't prefer choice over prime for beef bbq (p29 says prime is overkill - which directly conflicts with Michael Ollier's pitmaster tip on p78). I think sites like amazingribs.com are a much better starting point for most serious beginners.The book is split into 2 areas:Pages 13-33 are the general how-to of barbecuing, 80% of it is right on and a good, if shallow, overview but there's a few things I consider errors like I list above, some omissions (why not talk about kamados in grill types even though the appendix lists biggreenegg.com as a resource? Why not talk about the 40-140-4 danger zone rule? and you only give a small nod in a single sentence of a pitmaster tip to the Texas crutch?), and some stuff covered in a way that seems odd ("the stall" is hinted at on p33 but in the context of "too much information being a bad thing" - look up the article on amazingribs.com about the stall if you're looking for in depth info).Page 33-157 are devoted to recipes. The chicken/pork/beef ones seem very basic and there's some "recipes" that should be footnotes of other recipes instead of stand on their own. For example, page 61 offers a recipe for pulled pork and page 65 is a recipe for pulled pork sandwiches that essentially says put the pork from page 61 on a bun and top with sauce and coleslaw. Page 66 is a pulled pork taco recipe that says put meat on the tortillas and top with salsa and other taco condiments. I also got tired of the same 3 steps in almost every recipe. They all ask you to let the meat come to room temperature (please read about the 4-140-4 danger zone rule before you follow this instruction to the letter for large cuts of meat), oil the grates, and add more wood if you don't see smoke (which is slightly misleading in my opinion and might lead to over smoked meat).There were some good things though. You don't see much fish/bison/duck/frog leg recipes in BBQ books and they're covered here. There's a few sides like the honey-soy glaze cauliflower that sound good and I'll probably try a few of the rubs/brines/marinades as well. I've never heard of air-chilled chicken, so that's on my radar now and there were a few woods like Olive wood that I hadn't seen get any coverage in other BBQ books.If you've got much experience or read any other BBQ books, I'm not sure I'd recommend this one over books like Aaron Franklin's, Chris Lilly's, or Adam Perry Lang's books. If you're just getting started this provides a good, if sometimes flawed and mostly shallow, overview of several BBQ topics that deserve your attention.I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

And she tells you WHY she recommends the ingredients and processes she does. I loved reading about WHY use frozen fruit (premacerated) or cake flour (but not for the chocolate cake) or a food scale or the Wilton pans. The book brings a scientific explanation to the table. Recipes are kitchen tested with a lot of practice, and it shows!

It's very precise, easy to follow and offers great baking tips at the beginning of the book. Whenever I've used one of her recipes I've received numerous compliments! Can't wait to see if the author publishes other books on cookies/pies/tarts/macarons/etc.!
