The instructions just tell you to put the blender base on a Mason Jar to justify the key word search engine optimization. So they suggest you eat your breakfast out of a Mason Jar rather than a regular piece of dinner service.I've been doing nutritional content stuff for years so I can practically read a recipe and tell if it is correctly analyzed or not. And this book is absolutely without merit in this department. But I still run things through Excel and do an Auto Sum, divided by servings just to make certain.This book has hit a new low for gross inaccuracy in this department.Picked at random, "Eggs, Spinach and Bacon Breakfast" for 1 claims to have "126 Calories". In reality, there's 351 calories just in the first 3 ingredients!"Pink Smoothie" is for "2 Servings". The book's Nutritional Information says each serving is "366 Calories". In reality, it is only a total of 475 calories in the recipe divided by 2 for 238 which is significantly lower per serving.But the weirdest one is for the "Mango Smoothie" which states the single serving recipe has "1935 Calories" which in itself is insane in addition to inaccurate. There's only 276 calories even with the sugar-bomb mango. Oh, I know where I made my mistake, the "1/2 cup ice" is LOADED with calories I forgot to count -- silly me.I suspect "Susan Davis"is just another fake author and PromoKindle is someone else who bought the "Step-by-Step Stupidly Easy Course on How to Make Six Figures Through Amazon Kindle Publishing Exposed. . ." written by Muhammad Naeem Sikandar, the Grand Pooh-bah of Pilfering or Grand Pooh-bah of Plagiarizing with apologies to Gilbert and Sullivan.This book is just another example of the lowest level of fake publisher rungs that seem to slip through and get on Amazon's site.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Authentic food - really good recipes By Amazon Customer I got this because I'm obsessed with mason jar salads, oatmeal and pancakes. And, the recipes for them in this book are FAR better than in some of the other e-cookbooks I've perused. Not one of these recipes appear to have been tossed together just so they fit into a popular category. Each one I've tried has worked and is great. My favorites are the overnight banana oatmeal, the blueberry pancakes (love them!), the oatmeal pancakes, taco jar salad. I love the chicken pot pie recipe but make it in individual serving bowls rather than in the jar in the oven.It may be a wonky expectation but I thought all mason jar meals came from ingredients dumped into a mason jar and then microwaved at mealtime or stored in the frig overnight (when the magic happens). Some of these don't really need to be in a jar - they stand well on their own as delicious dishes. The warm salad, pizza and pie recipes, for example, are fantastic but they don't need a mason jar. I do appreciate that Susan Davis included them because I have always wanted easy, quick chicken pot pie and shepard's pie recipes and now I have them.

Next, the nutritional information is not accurate. The recipes are not original, and have been found in plenty of other books. Lastly, while presented as "mason jar" recipes, mostly they are simply make-ahead dishes that need baking.

By Heather Baird This is a great book for those who crave delicious mini cupcakes but have dietary considerations or restrictions. Each recipe is clearly marked as gluten-free, dairy-free, or vegan (or a combination the three). This book is small but mighty, and I appreciated the range of flavors presented. Ms. Dubal's first efforts as a recipe developer and cookbook author have proved successful, and I think she should continue to explore her talents in this field.

About the Author Joy Davidman (1915-1960) was an American poet and writer who married C. S. Lewis in 1956. King is professor of English at Montreat College and editor of Christian Scholar's Review. He is the author of over sixty articles on C. S. Lewis, and his other books include C. S. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A wonderful read By Carolyn Curtis The relationship between C.S. Lewis and Joy Davidman is endlessly fascinating. Don W. King brings his considerable research and scholarly perspective to the important find of Joy's sonnets, producing a volume that adds flesh to the bones of the friendship between Lewis and Davidman which blossomed into romance. He also proves what an outstanding poet this woman truly was, a publishing triumph in itself.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Much more than just love poetry to C.S. Lewis By Stuart Dunn A Naked Tree is subtitled "Love Sonnets to C.S. Lewis and Other Poems." However, this subtitle is misleading and used for name recognition to help the book sell more copies. The book is in fact 300 pages long with only 40 of those pages devoted to the Love Sonnets. The book is organized chronologically and starts with poetry as early as 1929, when Joy Davidman would have been only 14 years of age. I remember poetry I wrote at that age, and it was nowhere near as composed as her poetry. Here is a sample:What spur of gold is this that pricks the dawnTo further flaming of its fierce desireOf glory? On the eager winds of mornComes bowing down the soul-devouring fireThat keenly lashes the mad spirit higherAnd higher yet; the dry hot fever of fame,The far bright crown to which all slaves aspire-Need most imperative, to which the nameOf fondest love shows but a flickering flame.After her early poetry, the complete "Letter to a Comrade" is included in this anthology, and this section is followed by "Poems 1939-1940" and "Poems 1941-1952." Looking at just the length of these sections, it seems that Davidman did a bulk of her poetry writing from 1938 ("Letter to a Comrade" poetry) to 1940, as these two sections/three years comprised 125 of the 300 pages. When you finally do arrive at the love sonnets, it feels like arriving home after a long journey. Her poetry up until that point felt like she wasn't sure who she was and that she was searching. The sonnets to C.S. Lewis, it is like she has finally found what she is looking for, not just C.S. Lewis, but God as well.Reading through this book, I can safely say two things. First, Joy Davidman was a much better poet than her husband C.S. Lewis. Second, Davidman was much less appreciated and acknowledged that C.S. Lewis. If you want to understand not just Joy Davidman, but also C.S. Lewis, then this is a book that you should take the time to read. Once again, Don W. King demonstrates his impeccable research and brings us an important book on Lewis and Davidman. If you have an interest in either/both of these authors, pick up a copy of this book for your personal library.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. What a disappointment By Kitchen Angel I ordered this "book" for my bachelor son, without having noticed that it's only 50-page pamphlet. I should have downloaded the free Kindle version first to preview it. Some of the recipes are ridiculous for being budget friendly. For example, what does one do with all the other anchovies in a can when only one fillet is called for in a recipe? I think my son could pull more cost effective and suitable recipes for one serving size off the Internet.

About the Author Scott Bestul is a Field Editor for Field & Stream and has been with the magazine since 1993. The author of three books, including The Total Deer Hunter Manual and a widely published freelance writer, Bestul has bow-hunted animals of every sort across the US and Canada. The Wisconsin native now makes his home in the rugged bluff country of southeastern Minnesota with his wife Shari and teenage twins Brooke and Bailey. Excerpt. © Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved. TIP 125: TRY A COMPOUND CROSSBOW   Crossbow makers took the same design concepts used in compound bows and applied them to the crossbow. This style of crossbow is the most popular on the market right now.  ADVANTAGES EFFICIENCY Thanks to their wheels or cams, compound crossbows store and transfer energy more efficiently than recurves do. COCKING EFFORT Able to produce more speed with less draw weight, compounds are usually easier to cock than recurves. PROFILE Compounds have shorter limbs, making them easier to maneuver in close confines. VARIETY Manufacturers make compound crossbows in a wide range of styles, draw weights, and prices. You can shop until you find the perfect bow to fit your budget.  DISADVANTAGES MAINTENANCE Virtually every service needed on a compound crossbow (including changing the string) will require the use of a bow press. For the majority of hunters, that means a trip to the pro shop. WEAR AND TEAR A compound has more moving parts, which means more can go wrong. HANDLING Because there’s more weight toward the limbs of a compound, some shooters find them front-heavy and less comfortable to hold and shoot. And when manufacturers want to increase the speed on a compound, they typically lengthen the barrel to increase the power stroke, which places even more weight away from the body of the shooter and makes the bow more cumbersome.

Although there appears to be some interesting information that seems to be here, it has been the hardest ebook I have ever purchased thru Amazon to read. The pages jump left to right, large to small, you have to work too much to get back to where the book lost you...very frustrating. I wasted my money!

About the Author

Joe Bertagna has been a collegiate hockey administrator for more than 30 years. Since 1997, he has served as commissioner of Hockey East, the preeminent conference in college hockey, whose member schools have earned seven NCAA championships under his leadership. Before his move to Hockey East, Bertagna served 15 years with the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), where he held the positions of tournament director, executive director, and commissioner. Both with ECAC and Hockey East, Bertagna has been a champion of women’s hockey, having initiated ECAC Division I and Division III league play and led the formation of the Women’s Hockey East Association, whose championship trophy is named in Bertagna’s honor.

In addition to his commissionership of Hockey East, Bertagna is executive director of the American Hockey Coaches Association, a position he has held since 1991. He also serves on the board of directors of both USA Hockey and the Hockey Humanitarian Award Foundation. For 40 years Bertagna has operated his own clinics for thousands of goalies of all ages.

Bertagna began his professional coaching career in 1985 with the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Boston Bruins, where he was goaltender coach until 1991, and then again for the 1994-95 season. He also was assistant coach for the U.S. men’s national team at the 1991 Canada Cup, the U.S. Olympic men’s ice hockey team at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, and the International Hockey League’s Milwaukee Admirals from 1994 to 1996.

As a player, Bertagna was a standout goaltender for Harvard University. After graduating in 1973, he played professionally for the Milwaukee Admirals and in Cortina, Italy, where the team won the Italian Ice Hockey Championship in 1975.

Bertagna and his wife, Kathy, reside in Gloucester, Massachusetts, with their three children.

By Mark G Ryan The Hockey Coaching Bible is a compilation of chapters written about college hockey from some highly prestigious coaches who are experts in the field. Though the book seems to be marketed for coaches at any level, I think it would be a worthwhile read for any hockey parent or spectator who wants to learn more about the game. The early chapters discuss such topics as recruiting practices, team mission, professional responsibility, funding and community support and putting together a new team. They were interesting and informative. However, I really enjoyed the sections which discussed the ideal skills necessary for each position on the team and specific drills, plays and tactics used in practice and competition. As a college hockey season ticket holder, it will increase my ability to understand and appreciate what I am watching. I know some hockey moms who admit to not really knowing the game; this book would certainly help!Lastly, for those of you like me who have been enjoying the game for decades now, interwoven in the chapters is reference to the evolution of the sport as well as developing trends for the future. These brought back happy memories of my youth and made me feel like I had some insider info for the future.

It is based mostly on NCAA hockey. And THAT is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. If I KNEW it was so much about college hockey before I bought it, I'd give it 5. '

I am not a hockey coach but live in hockey country and know many people involved in the sport. I think this book would be very useful for anyone coaching or attempting to start up a club program (for any sport for that matter, but obviously in particular for hockey)...there are a lot of descriptions of different aspects of the game, as well as aspects of developing your team, team philosophy, etc. As a spectator, I found many of the descriptions of strategies and different playing styles interesting and useful in my understanding of the sport, and there were a lot of neat little tidbits about hockey history as well. My hometown of Austin, MN even gets a nod in the annals of hockey history!I liked that each chapter is written by a different prominent coach, and there is a description of each coach's experience in the back of the book.
