About the Author Jaime Maddox grew up on the banks of the Susquehanna River in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Although she left home for a brief stint in the big cities of Philadelphia, PA, and Newark, NJ, as soon as she acquired the required paperworka medical degree and residency certificateshe came running back. She fills her hours with a bustling medical practice, two precocious sons, a disobedient dog, and an extraordinary woman who helps her to keep it all together. In her abundant spare time, she reads, writes, twists her body into punishing yoga poses, and whacks golf balls deep into forests. She detests airplanes, snakes, and people who aren’t nice. Her loves are the foods of the world, Broadway musicals, traveling, sandy beaches, massages and pedicures, and the Philadelphia Phillies. On the bucket list: Publishing a novel, publishing a children’s book, recording a song, creating a board game, obtaining a patent, exploring Alaska.

Finally an actual plot develops that is somewhat interesting that involves busting up an illegal gambling ring and a moral/ethical conflict between our protagonists. You know how in every romance novel there are the inevitable conflicts that have the potential to divide our couple for good? The first conflict "she's a playah and I'm a virgin so I can't be with her," was a snooze and a half. That trope is so far overdone it's as charred and crispy as the number of times this author managed to use words relating to "fire" to describe passion. Our ladies erupted into flames so many times I wanted to give them a fire extinguisher. The writing quality was so so. The dialogue was flat, kind of stiff throughout the first half. There were way too many cliches, at points even two per sentence, as in cliches are old hat; avoid them like the plague. There were a number of times I shifted to other books before having a remote interest in finishing this book. By the last quarter of the book I felt okay about sticking with it.If the first conflict was dull, the second one kind of made up for that. One of my major complaints about the lesbian romance genre is how flimsy the conflicts tend to be and what great divides are manufactured from trivial things. So I was pleasantly surprised by the plausible ethical/moral divide our ladies faced over how to resolve a major issue affecting their basketball team. To find a genuine match in life you can be complete opposites, but still have values in common. Conflicting values more than anything will break up a relationship. Does that person you've fallen in love with have a moral compass pointing in a direction you just can't live with? That is good material for a conflict.Oh, and if you were expecting a book that actually includes game drama, you get a bit of golf, but pretty much no basketball.

By J Johnson There is a positively delicious abundance of story lines, characters, and upbeat and/or intense elements in this book. What a treat! Plus it all felt so magnificently expansive and yet beautifully intimate. Even the third-tier characters and their intricacies feel so alive and multidimensional. This is simply a tour de force and I feel it should not be missed. Superbly wonderful!Alex Dalton is an imposingly integrated person and a genuine femme fatale, plus a blistering force on the sports playing fields of her choice. Unbeknownst to just a few, she struggles with an insidious health issue that appears to be a difficult and traumatic undercurrent coloring all the facets in her intricate inner world and outer persona. Frankly, Alex is a mind blowing person to observe, to commiserate with, and to grasp how she so artfully wows everyone and anyone who crosses her path. Yet she is by and large comfortable in her skin, an out lesbian who revels in the glory of her summers spent in a very rainbow-colored community, and an emotional powerhouse that I sense is lovingly supported by one of the most endearing families I have ever had the pleasure to get to know. Towering and shining beacon!Britain Dodge, who mostly goes by Brit, is a treasure. Besides being stunningly attractive in appearance, she is above and beyond loving and caring. She comes from a very close-knit, but unfortunately ultraconservative catholic family. That puts Brit somewhat behind the eight ball, because she cannot allow her lesbianism to be universally known. Nevertheless, a fortuitous introduction at a low-key yet lovely dinner engagement has Brit meeting and nearly instantaneously falling for Alex. This not so little tension-filled plot line weaves in and out and up and down more often than I would have expected. However, Alex is sensitive to Brit's needs and Brit is above and beyond sensitive to her family's point of view. In the long run, Brit needs to grow up, take control of her life, while considering to the best of her capability her family's point of view. The blossoming of Brit on so many fronts is unquestionably one of the tenderest scenarios within a cornucopia of incredibly delectable threads. Impressively alluring!By the way, there is an awesome sub-plot involving a young man caught in a vicious web that eventually creates a near crisis flare-up between Alex and Brit. I did mention how amazingly rich this story is and how much that fuels my heightened enthusiasm for this book. I believe it is not to be missed. In fact, it probably needs to be savored multiple times to unearth all the gems included within. Exquisitely complete!NOTE: This book was provided by Bold Strokes Books for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews.

By RLynne "Bouncing" is a metaphor for Alex Dalton's love life, and also applies as she is the girl's basketball coach at the local high school. Britain Dodge is a new teacher at the high school and has also taken the position of assistant coach. Britain and Alex have agreed to be friends only, but there is an unquestionable attraction between the two women. Their story involves a very hot love affair as well as getting the team to the finals.A secondary story involves a teen ager named PJ. PJ needs money and has made some questionable choices to get money. One of the choices was to go to work for the man who runs the local betting business. This secondary story soon involves Alex and Britain, as PJ's brother asks them for help. This secondary story adds angst to Alex and Britain, as well as adding danger and drama. Maddox is an award winning author, and her skills shine as she weaves together these two story lines. Alex and Britain are very likeable, And their beach scenes may have all of us heading to Delaware!
