Each Thing Touches turns static memories into a kaleidoscope of living images, transformed by Frazier's pen into faceted bursts of color and light that are at onceworldly and alien. With a flash, a woman arranging carnations on Rush Street inChicago becomes a clown pulling flowers at the circus. The life of a Midwestern familyis juxtaposed against a Japanese woman receiving facial reconstruction after Hiroshima.Slices of life are pulled from the memory of the poet, and add to a collective humanexperience that illuminates the hidden intricacies and beauty in life. Frazier's poetryis an aesthetic pleasure. His collection makes human history an emotionally resonantjourney that readers will want to experience again and again.

Review Appropriate to the title, Each Thing Touches, feelings and moments connect creating a current of energy that follows through life even when we feel still. This collection is a captivating work that connects the reader to these energy currents through imagery often focused on the body, as in Chicago Hands, and through succinct language. Windy City Reviews "With Each Thing Touches, Frazier offers us a work at once powerfully felt and powerfully informed by feeling. This is a textthat swells with human life and human loss and human love--a book born of the weight of the body, but brought aloft by themeditative mind." -- Malachi Black, author of Storm Toward Morning Frazier illumines the darkest corners of memory, bearing apt witness to remembered experience with uncommon clarityand sureness, each poem a gem cut and polished to a fierce brightness. He revisits childhood again and again through a truepoet's lens, seamlessly fusing his narrative and lyrical gifts. In poem after poem, he insists on uncovering the radiance buriedbeneath the questions. -- Angela Narciso Torres, author of Blood Orange, Grand Prize Winner for Poetry, Willow Books
From the Author Each Thing Touches is my second full-length poetry collection. It is long for a poetry book, but it needed to be to illustrate the theme of its title Each Thing Touches. Everything is interrelated in life, our childhood is always with us, and time bends events personal and public backward, forward, and sideways in amazing and mundane permutations each day. Poems in this volume range from the intimacy of family life in childhood to a Hiroshima "maiden" with second thoughts. Surely, by book's end one sees clearly how each thing touches.
From the Inside Flap ...in childhood, I thoughtthat pain meantI was not loved. It meant I loved --Louise Gluck, "First Memory"

Not a line feel unconsidered, yet the flow is never stilted, and there's always a good momentum that carries you through to the end. I love Frazier's clarity of thought. Like any fine poetry, I need time and contemplation to find my way into each poem's world. But once I do, it's all there.

As he says By MG boy Mark Frazier in Each Thing Touches, through poetry takes his readers lost memories, recaptured memories, and a hope of memories yet to be made hoping that: “Something will grow here without me.” The poetry, through well-crafted specific memories and longings, aches for a purpose in life, tries to make sense of his Catholic upbringing, and wonders what is love. As he says, (the) map of childhood safely in our heads.” In the end we are what we’ve been. If we don’t realize that, our future is doomed.
