2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. I love Carrie Brown By Amazon Customer I love Carrie Brown; she makes eating healthy/SANE so much easier! I have all of her cookbooks and the recipes are amazing. I have so far made the margarita (with tequila though), the pumpkin pie frappe, and the hot chocolate. They were easy and very delicious. One would never know they are made without sugar and the other artificial ingredients you find at starbucks and the like. The ingredients may seem exotic, but it is worth it to know you can indulge without guilt. Plus, once you stock up, you are set for the majority of her recipes in her previous books. My 2 kids (4 and 5) love her food and they don't realize they are eating healthy! I would recommend this book to anyone, not just "sane" or low carb eaters. Cheers!
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Fantastic, easy drinks without sugar By Erik J. Hyypia Holy moly, the hot chocolate named Pyromania was the first drink to blow my mind. The next was the Black Cherry Amaretto Lassi, followed by the cooling Coconut Lime Lassi. I was looking for a way off the sugar addiction band wagon, and in despair of finding anything yummier than soda water. I got hold of a first copy of this book, and found there are more than a hundred recipes for lattes, teas, hot chocolates, yoghurt and frozen drinks, sodas, mocktails and infused waters, all without sugar.What is amazing is that every drink I have tried so far is freaking fantastic. Every one. I had no idea that you could make such good drinks so easily. Carrie uses extracts of many flavors, and Xylitol, a healthy, low glycemic sweetener, combined with simple ingredients you can get in most normal groceries or on Amazon. Unlike most other cookbooks, she has a whole chapter on what extracts actually are, as opposed to flavors, which are oily, and how to work with the simply ingredients, like coconut milk, coco powder, and Xylitol. The book is full of great pictures, too, so you can see what you are going to make. The Rose Green Tea Frappe is next on my list.I'm now a member of the Carrie Brown fan club. I found that if you have questions, Carrie is very active and approachable on her website and on Facebook, and is happy to respond. If you are looking for recipes that will orgasm your taste buds and wow your friends and won't make your butt as wide as a barn door, this is the book for you. (And if you haven't tried her ice cream book, you may yet discover that Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Cream is better than anything you can buy in the store.) Love. This. Book.

I have her other cookbooks and read her blog from time to time. I absolutely adore her charisma, her work, and the heart with which she does her work!I'm thankful that in this installment, she gives very clear instructions about the numerous ingredients necessary to make these beverages. The text discusses all of the trial-and-error she went through so she could succinctly give ingredient recommendations. I easily paid a recovered Lost Cat (or three) reward for all those flavor extracts, but I'll be well hydrated for quite some time. I'm guilty of not drinking much water-or anything else-because I seek novelty. I've been buying that novelty in expensive sugar-free energy drinks and coffee from a drive-thru. I see that I can have far more beverage novelty at home with the help of this book. You'll get the most use of this book if you have a high-powered blender for the thicker beverages. Make these recipes with a friend in the kitchen-it's a good time!
